A powerful, dynamic woman's voice, full of presence, in addition to a band with the same attributes, who are equally at home with the blues and rock'n'roll--those are the ingredients for the first CD by Dagmar and the Seductones. Andrea Dagmar Brown is the frontwoman. The band is made up of Bob Newscaster, who has played with Bo Diddley, Jack Scott, and Narvel Felts, on the guitar; Bryan Smith, whose skills have already been heard through his recordings with Tex Rubinowitz and Billy Hancock, on bass, and Dave Elliott, who has also played with Les Paul and Johnny Seaton, on drums.
Many of the songs on the record were written by Dagmar's husband, but there are also well-known pieces such as 'Red Hot,' 'Stupid Cupid,' and 'Let's Have a Party,' which here is played and sung in a very bluesy style. A very varied disc, which even on the slow title track is never quiet. Dagmar and the Seductones deliver not an authentic but therefore a very current-sounding rock 'n' roll.
